We shall surely overcome , we shall. I talked to Maiyaki over the phone on sunday and he calmly explained that the court case is still incapacitating him. I admire his composure and even though all these have made me lost my faith in Nigeria, I still believe in the integrity of Maiyaki. This man did not run away with our money, it is circumstances that affected him......if he is a bad man, he cannot answer his calls. Nobody here is going thru what I am going thru because of the absence of my hard-earned money but i'm still holding on to faith. Together let us hold faith and pray so we can move this mountain. In a letter signed and sent to President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua by the Chairman, Investors Forum, Prince Matiluko, Nospetco shareholders said the delay in releasing their funds by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)/Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has resulted in many of the victims losing their lives. They added: "Some have gone crazy and developed serious ailments, which have led to deaths." The shareholders stated in their letter that the Chairman of Nospetco, Yushau Mayaki, was given the opportunity to divert Nospetco funds to other companies so as to continue his business. According to them, a tribunal set up by SEC declared that Nospetco Oil & Gas Limited was not a wonder bank. This, they said, was embarrassing, as the CBN's action in freezing Nospetco's account was without recourse to the effects on its investors. Last year, about 211 investors instituted a legal action against the CBN, SEC and 27 other institutions at the Federal High Court, Lagos, over the freezing of their investments. According to the plaintiffs, the first 10 defendants, in pursuance of their powers, borrowed money for the furtherance of their businesses from them. They also said in soliciting for their funds, the first 10 defendants offered to pay various sums of monies, being their share of the profit from the businesses as interest on the loans monthly. The plaintiffs, through their counsel, are seeking the court's declaration that they (the plaintiffs), being innocent private investors, are entitled to their monies invested in the companies. They are also seeking a declaration that the freezing of the first and 10th defendants' accounts, which included the funds of the claimants, by the CBN and SEC is unlawful.
