The Evolving Times

Average time to read4:45 minutes aprox.

Somehow, somewhat, I have been getting a lot of invitations for functions with each person telling me how important my presence would be. Seriously, functions are not my thing especially the ones that do not have any «learning» theme. Well, in order to maintain my friendship with these people, I got to compromise; tough luck! Ok, yesterday was a naming ceremony and I had to travel seven mountains and seven seas to get to a place in Lagos coupled with seriously bad roads. Well, I really did not find it funny until I saw the baby boy: Just in a flash, something occurred to me; it was strange when I felt it but it was a powerful revelation. This...

Lessons from Mr. RAT

Average time to read4:30 minutes aprox.

I travelled for some few days, knowing full well that the car battery would have depleted when I got back; I took the electromate 400 from the trunk of the car to jump start the engine. As I opened the bonnet of the car, I saw a very huge rat and to my surprise I saw myself in a panic-stricken state. The rat, which was also obviously scared, ran through the engine down the compound. The first thing that hit me was my reaction; I had always prided myself as a bold and audacious person but to be totally shaken by a rat was really enlightening to me. First, I blamed it on the surprise element; prior to the...

An Effective Plan B

Average time to read3:44 minutes aprox.

I have been giving this Plan B thing some thought and have been wondering how effective it actually is. What we mostly regard as Plan B is an investment with passive involvement thus the term; «passive income» but can anything tangible actually evolve from a passive involvement? Yeah, if you are interested in having series of passive income from various sources and this can be quite complex except you are born a «wild oat» but we all (a majority of us) want to live a simple life and contribute the best we can to the world and generation to come. Plan B is not actually a passive income stream but is popularly defined as a reserved, secondary plan, in...

The Penniless Fool

Average time to read4:49 minutes aprox.

Ok, I copied the subject-head from the «penny wise, pound foolish» mantra (beat me). On a serious note, I read something that caught my interest on MSN recently and the caption read: «8 Lottery millionaires become poor» and if by mere coincidence, I started seeing various stories talking about how people came into so much money and lost everything. Kind of crazy, Right? Wrong! We all come into money and lose it but it ultimately depends on how we perceive the money we come into. The only reason why these guys make news is because the money they made was huge relative to what an average person owns and the money kind of came to them on a platter of...

Kane vs. Abel

Average time to read3:32 minutes aprox.

I have no doubt that everyone would agree with me that we live in a world of oppression; our self esteem is buffered up by what we have that our neighbor doesn't have and vice versa. I have most times wondered why we live in such competitive world fueled with all manners of negative elements like hatred, envy, anger, bitterness, etc. As an entrepreneur or even in the workforce, you cannot really survive without taking account of the competition. However, I cannot neglect to mention the positives inherent in competition – maximizing potentials, encouraging creativity and innovation, eliminating oligarchy, renewing the energy of the participants, etc. The aforementioned elements make competition look like a great thing until you start looking...

SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF

Average time to read5:35 minutes aprox.

Ok, this is the continuation of last week post (The Reason People Don't Succeed) where I dwelt on the importance of belief and how vital it was to succeeding. I actually drew my inspiration from Mark 9 about the story of a boy who could not be healed by the disciples of Jesus. The disciples later found out that despite their initial passion to heal the boy, they failed because they needed a different strategy from what they were used to. I pointed to the fact that their inability to find out what this winning strategy was is a reflection of their belief system. Pure belief would find the right way no matter the consistent failure, pressure and overwhelming circumstance(s)...
